The Magic of Nursery Wall Decals
Posted by Walls Need Love on 9/8/2011
As I opened the creaky, flaking front door, I wasn't sure what to think. Our newest purchase was a three
bedroom, two bath 1930s bungalow on the east side of town. "What am I going to do with this place?"
I asked out loud to no one in particular. I jumped at the sound of another voice yelling out "Just fix it
up"; thankfully, it was just my fiance' standing in the open front door. "I know we knew it was bad, but
how are we going to handle this place?" I asked. My fiance' looked around the kitchen. "No big deal," he
started, "With a bit of paint and elbow grease, this place will look like new." I rolled my eyes thinking
that was an understatement. I was three months pregnant and feeling entirely stressed out about the
whole project. With a baby on the way, we wanted to settle down; however, with money being tight, we
had decided on a fixer-upper.
My fiance' and I walked out of the kitchen and up the creaky wooden staircase. I headed toward the
nursery remembering that I had six short months to transform our new place into the perfect family
home. Looking at the drab hall walls, I muttered how true it was that the cobblers children go barefoot.
I loved my job fulfilling nursery wall decal orders at WallsNeedLove; how ironic was it that I was about to
move into a house with dingy, drab, and lifeless walls?
As we opened the door to the soon-to-be nursery, I gasped in surprise! Unlike the walls throughout
the rest of the bungalow, the nursery was freshly painted a beautiful yellow color. The most beautiful
nursery wall decals grabbed my attention! One wall featured pastel polka dot decals and a bright white
changing table. On another wall were adorable happy sheep decals dancing above a new crib. I couldn't
believe the transformation! The nursery wall decals gave the room a 3-D like quality. I had shipped out
hundreds if not thousands of nursery wall decal orders over the past year but had never fully realized
the difference these designs could make. The run down room now looked like a magical place, the
perfect room to welcome a new baby. I felt as if I could reach out and touch the nursery decals! In the
center of the room, on a small piece of paper, I found a note saying:
"Congratulations, Michelle and Joseph! Even though were not HGTV, we still wanted to help you get
started with your first place. Every babys WallsNeedLove."
I smiled in complete excitement. I truly had the best coworkers in the world. Together, my fiance' and
I walked out of the nursery and back down the stairs. My mindset had changed entirely; instead of
being overwhelmed with anxiety over fixing up the new house, I had a feeling of hope and excitement.
With the right tools, fixing up the rest of the house was going to be a breeze.
When I return to work on
Monday, the first thing Im going to do is thank my wonderful coworkers for the room makeover . . . and
then ask if they wouldnt mind giving up a few Saturdays to help complete the remodel. I'll promise to
include free beer (and caffeine free soda for the pregnant women), pickles, pizza, and ice cream.
